When the lady at IWOOT told me I could choose anything to review from their Suck UK range I felt like a kid in a sweet shop. Seriously, have you seen out how many funky homeware items they have over there? I’ve had one or two of Suck UK’s products bought for me in the past including this quirky, bungee jumping dude made of bird seed. Suck UK’s products are always fun.
I eventually narrowed my options down to this pretty ceramic rabbit lamp and this bookrest lamp. The house bookrest lamp won in the end. I’m a sucka for a simple, clever design.
The lamp has been sitting on my bedside cabinet for a week now and has had lots of use. I started journaling as a hobby on my Birthday last week and have been using it to write in bed every night since.
It was packaged very well. So well in fact that it took me a few attempts to free it from its packaging! Once out of it’s Styrofoam prison setting up the cable was simple. Just a little wipe over to remove the protective powder (this stops the glass from sticking to the foam), and we’re ready to test this baby out.
The lamp comes with a compact fluorescent bulb (life expectancy of 8000 hours!) and an EU plug adapter. The cable is a good length and the electrical fitting is solid and sturdy as you can see in the above picture. It has a frosted finish that produces a soft light that is bright enough to read and write by when uncovered, but once a book is placed on the roof the light is lowered and becomes warmer.
For some reason my photos came out a little fuzzy from here on in, but check it out! I now have an awesome Star Trek, Captain Jean-Luc Picard lamp! That’s what I like most about this product. Although the design is very simple, it’s ever changing. When I finish writing in the evening I plop my journal on top to hold my page, and this acts as a reminder to make an entry the next night before bed. It’s so useful!
